In a radio speech in 1946, Chairil Anwar discussed a number of poems which he later classified as poems which (in terms of form and content) had been able to escape the influence of the New Pujangga, and which had not. Chairil underlined something encouraging in the context of modern Indonesian poetry, namely novelty.
To this day, the world of Indonesian poetry has recorded the emergence of many names. Some are frozen in the traces of their predecessors, others have succeeded in giving birth to new forms and contents.
