Beyond Jakarta
Shaped like a beautiful orchid dropped in the turquoise waters, this island offers a variety of changing landscapes and traditions from one region to the next. South Sulawesi, home of the seafaring Bugis, produces luscious hand woven silks and intricate silverwork. The Toraja people live in the mountainous north, living in houses that look like huge boats afloat on the emerald sea of their fertile rice fields. On the far north coast, the Bunaken coral reefs are noted as some of the best diving sites in the world
