West Java
Beyond Jakarta
Moving further into the mountains, nestled in the beautiful Puncak landscapes is Taman Safari Wild Animal Park, home for a wide range of freely roaming animals which can be safely observed from private vehicles. The Park is a creative site for incentive adventures, with lively sports and picnic themes added into the excursion.
Heading toward the west coast of Java, the smoldering Krakatao Volcano can be seen rising from the Sunda Straits that separate the islands of Java and Sumatra.
The Ujung Kulon peninsula, located on the southwestern tip of Java about six hours from Jakarta, is a beautiful 300-square mile forested wildlife reserve. The Ujung Kulon National Park is a natural habitat for rhinoceros, wild ox, deer, wild boar, crocodiles, snakes and rare birds.
Lying in a high valley surrounded by mountains covered in tea plantations, the easily reached city of Bandung was known as the Paris of the East to the Dutch colonial administration. The city is the site of world's best collection of tropical art deco architecture. Near Bandung is the Tangkuban Perahu, a dramatic volcano with many active geothermal points.
