Jatinegara Kaum Area (The Grave of Pangeran Jayakarta)
One of the interesrting muslim pilgrimage tourist attraction In Jakarta that you should've missed is Jatinegara Kaum Area. this area is located at Jl. Jatinegara Kaum No.49, RT.6/RW.3, Jatinegara Kaum, Kec. Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta.
Jatinegara Kaum was the area where Pangeran Jayakarta lived. Pangeran Jayakarta was a leader that fight against the netherland colonialism on 1619-1640 in Jakarta.
Since 1619, after the port of Jayakarta was taken by VOC under the lead of Jan Pieterszoon Coen, Pangeran Jayakarta escaped to Jatinegara Kaum and made this area became the Govermental center. He also built a mosque that now called "Masjid Assalafiyah". At this mosque, Pangeran Jayakarta set a strategy to fight againts the VOC. He then died in 1640 and buried right next to the mosque.
The grave of Pangeran Jayakarta is always full of tourists that come from various places, especially on Islamic holidays.
How to get there:
You can take a train and get off at Klender station, and then walk to Jatinegara Kaum area
