Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) is a mini-portrait of a mixture of cultures, a space of interaction that questions the identity and then crosses the mind so that it enriches the expression of each culprit. TIM is not only a place to present art but also grows as an art laboratory space. In terms of dance there is also a growing community of people who practice and make work in the TIM environment. Various dance groups from different backgrounds, some who maintain their original culture, some who survive with western culture, some who try to modernize by making a fusion between eastern and western cultures, some are loyal to the popular style, some are entirely a work in a new style. Amongst all that, most of the ideas of the work must have been born and grew out of the anxiety of living in Jakarta.
UP Jakarta Art Center Taman Ismail Marzuki in collaboration with the Dance Committee of the Jakarta Arts Council held a dance collaboration event that was held for 2 (two) days on 5 and 6 October 2019 at the Taman Ismail Marzuki Great Theater. There are 10 dance groups that will perform with different backgrounds. In the series of JDE events a dance discussion activity will also be held on October 6, 2019 at the Great Theater Lobby with the theme "Dance Revitalization in Jakarta". Continuous search for the identity of dance culture in Jakarta as an urban metropolitan with resource persons Aiko Senosoenoto, Rury Nostalgia, Frans Sartono and moderator Tommy F. Awuy.
