Amir Hamzah Mosque in Taman Ismail Marzuki Will Be Built in a Futuristic Concept
The Amir Hamzah Mosque in the Taman Ismail Marzuki Complex (TIM), Jalan Cikini Raya, Menteng, Central Jakarta, will be built with a futuristic concept.
Head of the Jakarta Arts Center Management Unit Taman Ismail Marzuki, Imam Hadi Purnomo said, the revitalization of Phase I would immediately begin this September 2019. One of them is related to the construction of the Amir Hamzah Mosque.
"The new Amir Hamzah Mosque will increase its capacity to 250 worshipers. The area of the mosque and the prayer plaza reaches 800 square meters," he said, Wednesday (9/4).
Imam explained, the mosque's architecture will be made more modern and minimalist by incorporating elements of art. The new Amir Hamzah Mosque building is no longer close to the main entrance of the TIM or next to the Planetarium Building.
"We move it between the TIM Jakarta Theater Building, Graha Bhakti Budaya, and the Jakarta Art Institute Campus. The goal is to make it easier for the public and visitors to carry out worship," he explained.
According to him, to facilitate religious facilities in connection with the implementation of PKJ TIM Phase I revitalization by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), a place has now been prepared at the Jakarta Theater Building.
"We have provided an information board for the location of temporary worship facilities. In addition, we also socialize related to the construction of the new Amir Hamzah Mosque to the people who come to the TIM," he said.
He added, there were three activities in the PKJ TIM Phase I revitalization namely, the construction of an integrated hotel with the Cikini Regional Public Library, the construction of a basement parking in front of the Planetarium Building, and the construction of the new Amir Hamzah Mosque.
"The target is that this September the Phase I TIM PKJ revitalization can be started and finished in January 2020," he said.
