The West Jakarta Department of Jakarta City Government Tourism and Culture held an arts and culture competition which was attended by kindergarten to high school students
The competition, which aims to increase the talents and interests of students' arts, was held at the Rawa Buaya Cultural Arts Training Center (PPSB), Cengkareng, Tuesday (08/13/2019).
Participants who take part in the competition will be tested for their skills and show their artistic talent in several competitions. Among them are drawing, creating regional nuances of dance, ensemble, musical poetry, and others.
They will be selected again to perform at the same event at the level of DKI Jakarta Province.
"Through this competition, students are expected to be more skilled, creative, disciplined, and increase self-confidence. Also as a place to channel artistic talent and hospitality events, "said Fredy Setiawan, West Jakarta Economic and Development Assistant, Fredy Setiawan, Tuesday (08/13/2019).
Fredy revealed, this competition was a form of  Jakarta Provincial Government's concern for the preservation of cultural arts in the Capital City. Especially at this time the development of technology makes some cultural arts forgotten.
Meanwhile, the Head of the West Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office, Syaropi, explained, the competition was attended by 2,750 students representing eight sub-districts.
The winner of the art competition will be the representative of West Jakarta in similar activities at the provincial level. "The winners of the group category and individual art competitions will receive coaching money," he said.
Meanwhile, some students who participated in this activity claimed to be very happy, moreover the activity could improve their artistic life, and could compete at a higher level to get a bigger challenge.
"I'm happy for sure. Because me and my friends one group wanted to win this competition. So what we do like continuous training can pay off, "said Cindy (14), one of the students.
Not only that, the same thing was also said by Natasha (13) she hoped that this competition could be made an annual agenda. So that other students can develop their artistic talent through this competition. "Yes, hope that every year there will be. So it's a routine agenda, "he said.
