In Two Months, the Tourism Sector Contributed Rp. 1,023 Trillion for the Regional Original Income of
Reporter: Fikri Faqih - Jakarta Regional Original Income (PAD) from the tourism sector experienced an upward trend from January to February 2019. Whereas in 2018 the same period actually decreased.
"This shows a positive trend, considering that during the year 2018 the Jakarta Regional Original Income (PAD) has  fluctuating," Edy Junaedi, Head of  Jakarta city Government Tourism and Culture Office, said on Thursday (3/14).
The increase in Regional Original Income (PAD) came from all component sectors, hotel tax, restaurant tax and entertainment tax.
Data from the Tax Service and Retribution Service Board of the Jakarta Capital City shows that in January 2019 it was Rp. 485,174 billion in regional treasury, while in February there was an increase of 22 percent compared to February 2018 to Rp. 537,828 billion. 
The biggest restaurant tax contributor in Regional Original Income (PAD) in February was recorded at Rp 306,106,879,971, Rp 164,731,468,065 from hotel tax and Rp 66,989,677,754 from entertainment tax. With a good start, this positive trend is expected to continue until the end of the year.
The Jakarta City Government Tourism and Culture Office is optimistic that it can continue to push for efforts to increase the Regional Original Income (PAD) revenue target in 2019. Edy emphasized that various efforts were made to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
"By providing good information services through social media, promoting tourism packages, collaborating with communities, the tourism industry and the Central Government as well as organizing large-scale events," he explained.
It is expected that by 2019 2.9 million foreign tourists to Jakarta can be reached. {fik}
