Gambang Kromong

Gambang Kromong name is taken from the name of the music instrument, Gambang and Kromong. It is also valuable mixture between native and Chinese element. Chinese element can be seen on the instruments like Tehyan, Kongahyan, and Sukong, while the native element are Gendang, Kempul, Gong, SixGong, Kecrek and Ningnong. It is true tahat Gambang Kromong was the expressions of the Chinese descendant. Until early 19 centuries, Gambang Kromong was stil sung in Chinese, but earlier of the 20 century, repertoire of Gambang Kromong created in Batavianese language. Later, in every Gambang Kromong performance, their perform songs from Chinese and Batavianese. As an example of instrumental songs (phobin) titled Ma Tsu Thay, Kong Jie Lok, Phe Pan Tauw, Ban Kie Hwa, Phe Bao Tan, Ban Liauw and other “light song” titled , Cente Manis, Kramat Karem, Sirih Kuning, Glatik Nguknguk, Surilang, Lenggang Kangkung, Kudebel, Stambul Jampang, and Jali-jali Kembang Siantan.
