As known, Jakarta Provincial Government is going to operate five double-decker tour buses as an effort to increase tourist visit. Anyone who wants to go to tourism objects in the capital city does not have to pay a dime to get onboard these buses. However, the operational of these buses are predicted to be at the end of this month.
After they are operating, evaluation will be conducted every three months to know its benefits and flaws. Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, as the caretaker of these buses, is targeting the buses to serve 3,000 passengers per day, with assumption that each bus can accommodate 60 passengers and 10-hour operational time.
“The target is to get 3,000 passengers a day. We’re preparing budget as much as Rp 4.5 billion for maintenance and salary of the bus drivers, employees, and tour guides,” stated Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budhiman, at City Hall, Thursday (1/16).
According to him, the procurement for double-decker tour bus will not stop here because his department plans to add 20 more buses this year. Moreover, private parties are also asked to participate, so there would be more double-decker tour buses operating.
“It is proposed to add 20 more units this year, gradually. But if there was CSR wanted to donate, of course there will be more buses,” he said.
For initial step, Budhiman continued, the buses will not use ticketing system. But after three months, ticketing system will be implemented. Anyone who wishes to onboard the buses can get the tickets in airport, hotels, and shopping centers in Jakarta.
As for the routes passed by these double-decker tour buses, they are HI Rounabout, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman, Semanggi, Jl. Gatot Subroto, Sultan Hotel, TVRI, Mulia Hotel, Senayan Plaza, Pemuda Statue, and then return to HI Roundabout through Jl. Jenderal Sudirman.
