Located on Jalan Cikini Raya in Central Jakarta, Jakarta’s dedicated Art Center is named after Ismail Marzuki, Indonesia’s maestro musician and composer. The theater seats up to 1,240 persons. The theater is also equipped with a fly tower that comes in the same height as the stage which enables the crew to change the backdrop vertically. Here the impressive dance drama Matah Ati, recounting the succession in the Mangkunegaran Dynasty and the musical Laskar Pelangi, about education of poor children on Belitung island, attracted large audiences.
