JAKARTA - Starting tonight, there are different sightings in the National Monument (Gambas) area, Gambir, Central Jakarta. There are beautiful lighting exhibits on the lawn of the South and West Gardens.
The Jakarta City Government Tourism and Culture Office held a Festival of Light in the Monas area for 9 days. The Festival of Light aims to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence.
Acting Chief (Acting) Head of the Monas Technical Implementation Unit (UPT), Munjirin, said, the Festival of Light is an exhibition of lights placed in the park grounds of the South and West.
"This festival is also made to attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit Monas at night. The park used has an area of about 6 to 8 hectares," said Munjirin in the Monas area, Wednesday (08/14/2019) night.
Munjirin explained, the Festival of Light gives meaning to the city park at night by taking meaning from the dioramas in the national history museum.
"The main stage is ships, because we know that Indonesia is an archipelagic country and its sea area is very broad compared to its land. Indonesia's struggle was also marked by using ships," he explained.
The lamp exhibition in the Monas area was officially held for 9 days from 15-23 August 2019, free of charge to visitors.
"The exhibition is held every day except Monday. The exhibition starts at 18:30 until 22:00 WIB," said Munjirin.
The plan is to have a laser light show accompanied by music. The first show starts at 18:30-18.55 WIB, the second show starts at 20.00-20.55 WIB, and the third show starts at 21.00-21.25 WIB.
"It is hoped that the presence of Monas Week will attract every citizen of DKI Jakarta and tourists to visit and at the same time appreciate the National Monument cultural heritage area," he concluded.
