GenPI.co - Management of cultural heritage sites will soon be managed by a separate institution, the Ministry of Culture, after previously under the Jakarta City Government Tourism and Culture Office.
The plan to be realized in 2020 was revealed by the Head of the Jakarta City Government Tourism and Culture Office, Edy Junaedi.
"Next year we will place cultural heritage in our own service, so there will be a cultural service," Edy said when met at his office. (10/7).
Previously, management of cultural heritage sites handled by the Indonesian Culture and Tourism Agency was criticized by tourism observer Azril Azahari. According to him, the management of cultural heritage sites should be focused by a separate department.
"In my opinion, managing cultural heritage is strange, it is not consistent because it is always moved and managed. Moreover, currently it is under the Disparbud, "Azril said to GenPI.co (8/7).
With the separation of management of cultural heritage sites by separate departments, it is expected that management will be better.
"So the management will be even better," said Edy.
