Jakarta Gems Centre, Rawabening

Located near the Jatinegara railway station in East Jakarta, the Jakarta Gems Centre offers four floors of kiosks and stores, all selling precious stones, semi- precious stones, rare stones or just fancy colourful stones for necklaces, bracelets and rings.

This is a wholesale market, but people can buy in bulk or at retail Here you can find agates known as batu akik. Many Indonesians believe that some stones contain supernatural powers that can bring good luck and wealth to its wearer or to ward off evil. For this reason, the Jakarta Gems Centre is most often crowded.

  • Ancol Art Market

    The Ancol Art Market is open air where you may find many of Indonesia’s up and coming artists gather to display and sell their paintings, carvings, and other handicrafts. The textile shops owned by Indian Bombay merchants are still there attracting their regular clientele looking for Indian silks, brocades and a variety of textiles at reasonable prices.

  • Klender Furniture Market

    Indonesia produces some of the best furniture that are sold here, but most are the fine wood furniture imported from the handicraft centers of Jepara and Kudus in Central Java. Here you can find beds, dining table sets, cupboards, dividers, either simple or ornately decorated.
