A destination for many emerging artists, this gallery encourages cultural exchange and international networking with regular special events and overseas partnerships in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Japan and Canada. The building is also home to a private collection of works by famous Indonesian artist Prof. Dr. Toeti Heraty, the founder of the gallery. Visitors can discover works of art by 60 notable Indonesian artists including Basoeki Abdullah, S. Soedjojono, Popo Iskandar, Affandi, Mochtar Apin and Salim. The establishment features a café and a homestay too.

Gedung Kesenian Jakarta is a heritage building from Dutch colonial days, where artists regularly perform traditional and modern drama, concerts, and musicals. Built in 1821 its construction is in neo-renaissance style and was called the Theater Schouwburg Weltevreden or the Pasar Baru Theater since it is located just across the popular Pasar Baru shopping center.
